The book is written at a lively place, with plenty of first-hand accounts by marines that pull no punches in highlighting the brutal nature of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is well illustrated with maps and 16 pages of black-and-white photographs. It's certainly a compelling read and highly recommended to those with an interest in modern-day conflicts. Another excellent book in the history of Marine Corps Tanks.The author, Ed Gilbert,refers to it as the last volume in his series.Hang around another 5-10 yrs.,Mr.Gilbert ;,with the world situation volume 5 or 6 may be needed before to long.

Well written history that is part of a multi-volume series beginning with WWII, then Korea and Vietnam. I recommend it - and I've read most of what is available on the subject.

Marine Tank modern warfare

A slow read but we'll worth it of Marine Armoured battles in the Iraq and Afghanistan. Plenty of detail and personnel stories about what it was like and the equipment used.
