Through a combined reading of all available sources Vermeiren takes the reader on a spectacular journey into Roman-occupied first century Palestine, and brings to light an entirely different beginning of Christianity from what the New Testament and the Christian churches would have us believe. He brings forward a revolutionary theory that not only settles the Paul problem and the issues of chronology, but also shows an early Christianity that is the result of purely human purpose and effort.
This theory might be a decisive step in demythologizing Christianity. It’s an eye opener for the interested layperson, and a serious challenge for the churches, for biblical scholars and for academic historians alike.

I've always been fascinated by the three men rescued from crosses at Tekoa, too. Since only one survived, it surely would have been a seeming miracle to those in the vicinity. As the story spread, it became apocryphal, steeped as it was in messianic and apocalyptic times. Given the overwhelming numbers of other coincidental episodes that link Josephus, the gospels, and the Essenes, Vermeiren's hypothesis about the retrograde chronology of Christian origins is completely plausible and fascinating to boot. A must read!

I bought this book for my wife who is an artist and a preschool teacher. It's fun and inspiring to look through - a great source of ideas to introduce children (or anyone!) to art and get them involved.

The book is a great idea for budding artists

The book is a great idea for budding artists. My only complaint is that the preview indicates a study in Pointillism, one of the attractions of this book, since it would be easy for a very young artist to do, but that study is not actually in the book. So perhaps it was an error on the preview, and is actually in her other books. I will likely return it at this time, but will purchase in the future as my child advances.

About the Author
Nick Freeman had intended to pursue a career in corporate law. However after being entered for and winning an advocacy competition, he took a job as a prosecutor for Greater Manchester Police in 1981. It was at that stage that he realised the huge benefit of knowing the law intricately to secure success in the courtroom - the precursor to his Mr Loophole technique. In 1983, he moved to a large firm of criminal lawyers in Manchester and was made a partner within six months. Although his work involved representing those facing serious criminal charges such as murder, fraud and rape, he established an unparalleled reputation for winning road traffic cases. At the age of 42 he left to go it alone and established his own law practice, Freeman and Co. About the Author

Andrew Lang (March, 31, 1844 July 20, 1912) was a Scottish writer and literary critic who is best known as a collector of folk and fairy tales. Lang s academic interests extended beyond the literary and he was a noted contributor to the fields of anthropology, folklore, psychical research, history, and classic scholarship, as well as the inspiration for the University of St. Andrew s Andrew Lang Lectures. A prolific author, Lang published more than 100 works during his career, including twelve fairy books, in which he compiled folk and fairy tales from around the world. Lang s Lilac Fairy and Red Fairy books are credited with influencing J. R. R. Tolkien, who commented on the importance of fairy stories in the modern world in his 1939 Andrew Lang Lecture On Fairy-Stories.

the stories are well enough written and easily read, but many of them are too long. They are not interesting enough to make up for the length of time it takes to tell some of the stories.
